Need Help with Hotel

I am going to Vienna next September with my family. Can anyone recommend a decent 3 star hotel that is in or close to the city center? I was looking at Hotel Capri, Franz Shermin among others. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

<font color=#cc3366>Can't recommend any as I haven't been yet, but from reading on here and in guide books, Hotel Admiral (where we are staying next month), Hotel Columbia, Pension Suzanne, and Pension Nossek, Hotel Austria, Hotel Museum, Pension Neur Markt, and Pension Aviano all got good reviews. Some may be four stars. All are in the 100 Euro to 125 Euro category. The Karntnerhof was 146 E.

Hope this is some what helpful. I assume you don't mean Sept 2004, but Sept. 2005 since you said next Sept as opposed to next month.

Hi. Will be in Vienna during late September this year. I have been looking up on the hotels in Vienna as well... Narrowed down to Graben Hotel. Seem to be in a good location... however, since this will be my first trip to Vienna, can't really recommend. If anyone out there stayed in Graben before, please comments. Would be interested to know whether i have made the right choice or not. Thanks.

Graben is a 4 star, small ( 50 rooms+-)
in the center of the city.
A perfect place for a first time visitor as it is within walking distance of many tourist sights.
A typical old style austrian hotel, it is in a pedestrian zone and should be quiet. It is also near many well-known shops and restaurants.
While the style of the rooms are not liked by some, the location makes this an OK choice to me.

I can definitely recommend the Admiral Hotel. We have stayed there twice and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. We like the fact that they have (limited) parking spaces available for guests within a half block of the hotel, but the rooms are clean and spacious enough with plenty of storage space and a nice bath. The location is great and the price is reasonable.

Thanks, Molker, for the information on Graben. Better choice than NH Wien then.

Both the Graben and Wien are 4 star hotels. Graben has better central location and access to many more and better restaurants. It should be more quiet.
I do not know about price - but if it is similar or just a bit more, Graben for a first time tourist is much better in my opinion.

Both Graben and Wien's prices are almost similar. Graben maybe a few $ more. However, Central location is preferred. So Graben it is. Hope it is also near to public transportation stations. Would you by any chance know whether the tourist information centres are open or not on a Saturday and whether there is a counter in the airport? Will be arriving on a Saturday. Plans will be to get the necessary map, info on public transportation, etc and plan my stay accordingly.

The Tourist Information Center in Maysedergasse is a short walk away from Graben, behind the State Opera and Hotel Sacher, opposite to Caf&eacute; Mozart:

Tourist Information Center
Vienna 1, Albertinaplatz / Maysedergasse, daily 9:00 am - 7:00 pm

Tourist Information at the airport
Arrival Hall
10:00 am - 9:00 pm
(opposite the Baggage Claim from 8:00)

Betty - It was because of your recommendation on an old Vienna Hotels thread that we looked into the Admiral.

Oh, then I do hope you like it! Although it's a short walk to the Ringstrasse, I really like the area off Mariahilferstrasse. There are always people walking around so you feel very safe even late at night and there are many little restaurants nearby.

I will anxiously be awaiting your trip report!
