Need help with European Itinerary

Here’s my dilemma-- My husband and I only have a week of vacation plus the two weekends on either side. We had a trip planned to Greece (Athens, Mykonos, Santorini) for mid-September, but we had to cancel it due to my husband’s work schedule. Now, our vacation has been rescheduled for the first week of October. Should we reschedule the Greece trip for October? I’ve read mixed reviews about the weather that time of year, etc. Also, we had thought about spending a few days in Paris, then flying to the Costa del Sol for the remainder of the trip, as the weather there should still be fine for beach-goers. We do like the beach and more laid-back type of vacations. Is there a European beach location that I should consider? I have been to Paris and many parts of Spain before, but my husband has not. We traveled through Italy for 2 weeks 2 years ago, so we wanted something different than that. Any insight would be appreciated. Also, if you think that we’re missing the boat by trying to go to Europe, and that there’s the perfect destination that we’re missing, please say so. I don’t know why I’m having such analysis paralysis with this trip, but I am. Thanks in advance.

Underhill, I am not sure what "topping" means. Can you explain?

Hi Jg

Not recommended. With only a week, or so, I suggest either visit Paris or save it for another trip.

Ira,

I know that there is enough of Paris to keep us busy for 2 weeks, but we thought that it might merit a long layover on our way elsewhere or a starting point to a little tour to Provence or something like that. I’m basically looking for some ideas. My husband and I are not the see every museum, old church, etc, kind of people---so we could hit a few of the sights in Paris in a few days and move elsewhere. Does that clarify our intent?

Have you used www.weatherunderground.com to check the actual, and documented, weather history of any of your possible Greek destinations?

I ask because I would hate to see anyone make a decision based on leee-than-accurate information about what the weather is/was like.

"Topping" is a term referring to adding any little message (often "ttt", for "to the top") to give your posting "new life", bringing it back up to the top, where it will have greater visibility.

Often added to a good question that has languished for (many) hours without any answers.

Best wishes,

Rex
