Need help with Bath hotel name
 

There is a nice old hotel in Bath whose name I simply can't recall. It's situated adjacent to the gardens, near the river, and a stone's throw from the cathedral and the Roman baths. Could someone please help me recall the name? Thanks.

I'm sure there are many that fit this description. The one we stayed at was the Parade Park. If this isn't it, and probably is not, maybe a few more attributes would help.

The Parade Park doesn't ring a bell. The hotel is fairly large, obviously old but very nice, about 6-8 blocks north of the train station, and very close to the pedestrian area around the baths and cathedral. On the right as you leave the hotel is the gardens area with playground. As I recall there is a traffic circle of some type just in front of the hotel. Hope this helps. And thanks again.

It sounds a bit like the Abbey Hotel (http://www.bestwestern.co.uk/searchr...opertyid=83601). It's just around the corner from the abbey, right by Sally Lunns, Abbey gardens etc. Parade gardens are just across the road (no playground tho')

Wayne, we stayed at the Parade Park last May and it fits your description perfectly except the gardens are across the street, right on the river, and the traffic circle is just to the left as you walk out the door. As a previous poster said, there are several hotels right in this area, and the Abbey is right on the traffic circle.

FYI, we have a friend who lives a block from there and she checked out all the hotels in the immediate vicinity for us. She felt the Parade Park was the nicest choice.

We felt it was not a luxury hotel by any means, more like 2-1/2 stars, but it was adequate and the location could not be beat. I don't think there are any 4-stars in that area, surprisingly.

If you discover a great hotel in the center of Bath, please post it on this thread because I'd love to know about it for my next visit! Bath is so lovely -- enjoy your visit.

Merilyn: Glad you enjoyed the Parade Park, also. I thought your description was appropriate. The PP has suites available (2 bedroom one bath) at a very reasonable cost, which is nice if traveling as a family. The adjacent pub, Lambrettas, though probably not as historic, atmospheric, etc. as others in town, was nice for Pint after sightseeing and the staff was very friendly.

My sincerest thanks to all of you who have taken the time to respond to this posting of mine. After reviewing the responses and finding a few web sites, I've concluded that it has to be the Abbey Hotel. That should bring this string to an end, but not before I express again my thanks to all of you.
