Need help please

My wife and I will be in Switzerland for 9 days in late June/early July and also wanted to see Annency, France and Courmayeur, Italy, and maybe return to Murren so that is a lot of ground to cover. Tentatively so far:

Geneva (1) - Annency (1) - Courmayeur (3) to beat the heat and hike in the mountains - Chamonix looked too busy and we couldn't find the hotel we wanted.

Then I am not sure where. We will not have a car.

The Montreux Jazz Festival will be going on - should we skip that area?

Or leave there and go on the Golden Pass to Interlaken, then up to Murren for 2? We have been there twice before and don't want to go to the Jungfraujoch again, so skip that?

Then to Bern (1) - Lausanne (1) and Geneva again (1) ?

Thanks.

Certainly Montreux and environs could be expensive and booked up around the festival, so I'd give it a miss--unless you are a jazz aficionado.
I try to avoid one-night stays and especially subsequent ones.
I would not go to Murren for less than three nights, then maybe return and stay in Lausanne for two or three--if your departure is not at the crack of dawn, you could stay there last.
Where else have you been in Switzerland?

So maybe we should stay in Lausanne the last two nights - our plane leaves at 10:00 so I wasn't sure if that gave us enough time to get checked in.

Many years ago we went from Geneva airport to Lausanne to Grindelwald to Lucerne, and then from Zurich to Lucerne to Wengen to Zermatt (and on to Lake Maggiore and Venice).

You will not always beat the heat in that area. I spent a couple of days in Lausanne last July and the temperature was 33°.

FYI, the name of the town is Annecy, not Annency. It's a lovely place to visit, as is the surrounding area.

Hi DirkN
Montreux or Mürren is a difficult choice! If you want to escape the heat then Mürren would be more the right choice. Alternatively, you could go to Grindelwald. There is more to discover in this area than just the Jungfraujoch! There are also places like Wengen, Schilthorn, Trümmelbach Falls, Glacier Gorge, Giessbach Falls, Beatus Caves, Schynige Platte and many more places to explore...
Have a great trip
Martin

We cut the trip back to the original all-Switzerland and are spending five days in the BO (three in Wengen and two in Murren). Golden Pass back to Montreux, boat to Lausanne (where we also stayed on our honeymoon 35 years ago), then Geneva.

Thanks for your tips.

Wengen - Mürren 5 km

No need to change base from Wengen to Mürren, as the villages are about 5 km far apart each other and you can easily visit the one from the other. I would pick one and explore the whole Jungfrau area without having to unnecessairily move the base.

Where would you stay for five days in Wengen?
