Need help planning two months in Sicily mid December to February

I am planning a two month (+/-) trip to Sicily mid December, to mid-February, with my husband. We will probably fly from London to Palermo and rent a small car in Palermo. We enjoy ancient ruins, architecture and absolutely love day hikes. We are thinking of basing ourselves in 6 different locations to cut down on driving but can easily accommodate more if anyone thinks it would improve our experience. We know itís winter but itís nothing like what we get back home in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

This is what I have: 49 days

Palermo - 10 nights (for Christmas and New Years)
Trapani - 7 nights
Sciacca - 6 nights
Agrigento - 3 nights
Modica - 3 nights (day trip to Ragusa)
Siracusa - 7 nights
Catania - 7 nights
Castelbuono - 5 nights
Palermo - 1 night

Do any of these sound too long or not long enough? Any suggested changes or additional places we should stop for a few nights, I have 10 nights that havenít been allocated yet.

Ragusa deserves more time than Modica. And yes to seeing Noto.
In Siracusa stay on Ortigia Island.
This trip sounds wonderful!

Like HappyTrvlr, I say yes to Noto and to staying on Ortigia.

Can you fly into Palermo and out of Catania? That would let you cut one change of hotels, and I don't think you would face an extra drop off fee for the rental car.

I don't know what the Aeolians would be like at that time of year, but that's the one gap in your plan that jumps out to me.

Enjoy!
