Need Help Planning Culinary Trip in Europe!!
 

okay, so I'm in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Europe in June 2014 and I plan to stay the entire month. The places I want to visit are Paris, Nice, London, Cork, and Dublin(other suggestions in France, Ireland, and UK welcomed). The reason for going is to visit cafe/bakeries and experience the food in each city. I'm just not sure where to start with planning the route that is most cost and time efficient, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

With that agenda I'd put Lyon right at the top of the list!

Strohrer's, 51 Rue Montorgueil, 75002, My favorite in Paris. I loved the food in Normandy. Glad to see you have Ireland on your list. I could eat seafood chowder and brown bread everyday. The English market in Cork is great and there is excellent food in Kinsale.
Are you planning on using the train and staying in hostels or hotels?
The man in seat 61 is the best for train travel. The ferry from France to England and Ireland are great also.

I can't wait to read your trip report on this. Please take lots of pics to show us.

Cafés/bakeries doesn't really say "culinary" to me. It says "ordinary." What are you really after? There is amazing food all over Europe, not that much of it found in cafés and bakeries.

Culinary trip to London. Surely you jest.

For good food start in Lyon and work your way north through Burgundy and then up to Belgium. For bakeries go to Haarlem NL, get up early, and follow your nose. For the best chowda ever go to Ryan's FXB Grills in Dublin. Have a Guinness at the Storehouse Dublin after taking the tour.

@spaarne The Brazen head did their "chowda" with a red sauce. I have never tried Ryan's. Howth, north of Dublin has some amazing seafood.
Borough market in London would be on my list.
I would try and do some cooking classes. I did one in Florence and I am hooked now.

Kinsale is about a half hour South of Cork. The Fishy Fishy café is rated as one of the top three seafood restaurants in Ireland.

I am sorry - but London has fantastic food! We eat very well there - what type of food are you looking for?

The idea that London has crap food is outdated and from the 80's or from people that dont know how to do research or find good food.

The food scene in London is fantastic. Michelin starred places, street food, bbq, burgers, curry, ethnic food - tell me what you want and I will tell you where to find it.

We have 2 little books: "The Patisseries of Paris' and "Paris By Bistro." They're both categorized by neighbhood so it makes planning sightseeing and yummy snacks very easy.

jamikins, judging by your latest trip reports, you do know how to eat.

We were in London in February and ate wonderful, wonderful food in fabulous restaurants.

We just got back from the Veneto and the Dolomites and had some quite nice meals, but honestly, we ate better in London. Consistently good food.
