Need help on villa rental location on Paros

We are trying to decide on a villa for rental with our family the last week of May. Needs some help on location choices.
We love to swim at beautiful beaches and don’t want to be too isolated away from towns. We have some young adults children in our care who might want to ditch us some at night! Here are the locations.
8km south of Parikia
Aliki
Molos
2km south of Santa Maria
Drios
Appreciate any advice!

I've stayed in Aliki. It's a quiet alternative to Parikia with nice beaches but there are some lovely seafront restaurants.

Ditching you at night is going to be rough unless you are on a bus line or the kids can drive.

Aliki is beautiful, but very quiet. My kids, both in their late 20s, would be bored.

Can you post a budget? And any other needs? Like exactly how many beds/baths

you require?

Weadles,
Our young adults are 18, 25, 27, 35, 38. We are in our 60’s and will also have our grand kids with us, 6,9,10. We also have bro & sis in law. 12 total.
We will put our 38yr old on the car so he can drive them into town but we don’t want it to be too far out with what you said about how dark the roads are at night. I wish we could find a villa close enough to town to walk but still have a lovely view but so far no luck. We want the beaches to be safe for little ones to swim. Are the ones on the east to rough for that? I read that it’s the windy side which could mean rough surf.
We would like to keep our budget to 7000.00 but will go up to 10,000 if we have to. There seems to be plenty in that price range just so unsure about area. Thanks for your great advice. Everyone is wonderful on this forum.

I will get in touch with two friends on the island and send them your post. I just don't know if they may have taken off for vacation after the busy summer season!

Generally speaking, I would try to base as close to Parikia or Nauossa as possible. I would even consider getting in touch with some of the smaller hotels in both places and see if they have villas on site for a large group like yours.

For instance, when we stayed at Minois VIllage, just outside Parikia, we found out that two British families were staying at rental houses on the property. In some ways, this is an ideal situation because it gives you the benefit of a hotel staff steps away in case of a problem, plus an excellent beach, usually great for toddlers and adults, within a ten minute walk.

Lucky that you have a 38-year-old to drive people into town at night. It is really dark on many of the roads. We put our 30-year-old SIL in charge, and he was a little freaked out on times, especially on the road to Lefkes, which is quite hilly and dark at night.

Good luck!

Please let me know the duration of your stay. Is that budget for one or two weeks?

Also, an FYI: ANY of the beaches can get quite windy on Paros. We tried to go to two other beaches on an especially windy day, but couldn't find anywhere to place a towel. It was packed!

A last note, I promise, then must go! Look into AMBELAS, an area very close to Nauossa. We stayed at a friend's house there three years ago, and liked it. Beautiful views, not a great beach, but within a pretty easy drive to Nauossa, even at night.

Last week of May usually isn't crowded on Paros. Aliki is on the southern end of the island, so is more sheltered from the wind than beaches on the eastern side, which are popular with wind surfers. Additionally, winds aren't very strong in May, although you could have a day or two when it is. Most of the time there is no surf at all on the beaches, and often it is as calm as a millpond.

I think what you need to do before deciding on a villa is to find out specifically where it is located, because many of the larger villas are up in the hills, a few kms away from town and the beaches. Google Earth is sometimes helpful in pinpointing locations.

Try searching through the www.vrbo.com

Here's one that sleeps up to 14 people and is fairly close to Parikia, right on the sea. https://www.vrbo.com/8270922ha

I heard back from our Greek friend, Georgia, who works at a company called WEDDING IN Paros, based in Nauossa. She said that her company has some villas that might suit your needs. If you're interested in being in touch, her e-mail is:
[email protected] Just put her name in the subject line. We have known her for several years. She used to manage STELLIA MARE, also in Nauossa, which was where we often stayed. Obviously, she knows the island very well, so even if you don't book through her, it could be tremendously helpful. Good luck! You can tell her that WENDY K suggested you be in touch.

Weadles,
Thanks I will contact her. We will only be there a week. You have been such a big help! Thanks!

Brotherleelove2004 I love that vrbo villa and it was my first choice but it wasn’t available for our whole time. I was so sad! It indeed would have been perfect!

TNTraveler, My instinct would be to write that Bnb and tell him your story, and ask if there is anything suitable nearby ... If it would be available for 5 of your 7 days, maybe the landlord would know of something appropriate (perhaps 2 adjoining properties that could take 7 each) for theother 2 nights.

In my experience, I have SO often found that locals know more than is advertised ... and might be able to put you onto something suitable that is not online.
