NEED HELP IN TUSCANY TOWN -HAVE TEENAGERS BUT WANT RELAX CORTONA OR NEARBY

We are a family of 4 (2 t eenage children). We are traveling from Florence to Rome and have 2 days to spend in Tuscany. We have decided to forego a relaxing country retreat, because of the 2 teenage chidlren, but need a relaxing hotel in a tuscany town - want to be pampered! Any suggestions>? HELPt

Sounds to me like you'd be best suited to some beach experience! See the following overview...Vada looks good.

I recommend you go to a Terme if you want to be pampered! Inhalation, water therapy, massages, mud therapy, gyms and more. I spent a hectic six weeks in Italy and the pampering of the Terme was just what I needed! They are located all over Tuscany. Send the kids riding on Vespas you and your spouse hit the Terme, it's a win win situation!

Here's a link to a Terme in Siena if you are interested!

You can be pampered in New Jersey but you cannot see Tuscany there--which is it you want? Look at Adler Terme near Bagno Vignoni.

Thank you for the suggestions - perhaps I used the wrong word, pampered. I would like a nice hotel close to some sights and good food. Don't need a spa - any suggestions of nice hotels would be appreciated!

I peaked through the gates one evening in Bagno Vignoni, and saw a man swimming in the very warm pool on that cool evening. I have been dying to go there ever since.

There are so many very nice hotels in Tuscany. I am guessing that your are asking about a nice place in Cortona. Am I wrong?

Oh, I was referring to the Adler Terme in Bagno Vignoni. There really isn't much of a town at all, but it is a great area. And there are sports listed for the teens.

Oh, just me again, but bobthenavigator made a fabulous susggestion on another thread, that might suit you perfectly. I myself was cruising through my files for something special for you in a town, rather than in the countryside, but didn't come up with anything in the time I had. Here is btn's suggestion:

Il Falconiere is situated right below Cortona in a vineyard.
ITs easy to get into town yet be pampered when you return. Excellent dining room.

I'd like to know what time of year this trip is, too, if it hasn't already happened. Cortona is a madhouse in high season; when I was there in July you couldn't even hear much Italian being spoken because it was completely overrun with Brits and Americans. Far from relaxing.

I agree about the spa towns. My daughter and I enjoyed several wonderful days at various spas not far from our base in northern Umbria.
