need help in planing itinerary for France

I have plans to rent a car on the 10th of Sept, after my 4 days in Paris. I think I will rent it at the airport and then I have until my flight out on the 20th to see the rest of France. Places I want to visit are Mont St Michel, Luberon,Beaune, St Remy, Arles, Lyon, Aix, Grasse,Strasbourg , Chamonix, Vence, St Tropez and Monaco. As you can see I am not too sure of my directions and which order these should go in, so any help is appreciated. Is this an imposible itinerary?
What do you expert travellers think and which would be the best order. Thank you

It is very difficult for me to try to answer your question with being a smart a-s. Here goes. Buy a map, draw lines between each of these places and measure the length of these lines. Compare the lengths with the scale of the map. You will probably find that the total distance between all of these places is 2000 to 3000 km. You could drive that far in 4 days but why would you?

I read it as having 10 days, including the 10th of September but not the date of departure.

You really do need to get a guidebook to France and figure some of this out for yourself. You are literally all over the map just in the way you have listed the places you want to visit. Any good bookstore will have lots of them, just browse through a few and find one that lists all of these places.

As others have said get a map of France--it doesn't even need to be a very good one--and see WHERE these places are. To say the very least it is an impossibility to do in 6 days. Your whole ten days in Paris alone would not be too much taking a day trip to Versailles and/or Giverney. All these places are particularly impoossible to do by driving. If you are truly leaving on the 10th, you need to rethink your plans.

It sounds like most of what you want to see is in the south of France. You could see much of the Provence and Riviera area in 10 days but if you try to include all of the other sites, you will be doing nothing but driving for the entire 10 days. Follow the advice above and get a map. Then concentrate your itinerary on a portion of France, not the entire country.

For a comparison if you're from the US, France is approximately the size of Texas. I wouldn't drive the perimeter of Texas on a 10 day vacation.

We spent three weeks in France last year- one week in Paris, one week in Nimes in the south and one week in Cannes on the Riviera. We used the entire week in each place, exploring the surrounding countryside and villages. Having 10 days for a driving trip, personally, having made several driving trips in France, I would pick a region- Normandy/Brittany or or the Loire and its chateaux or Provence or the Champagne area and tour and explore just that one region. To see what you want to see, you would need much more time as you would be circling the country. France is the size of Texas and although it has great superhighways, and good roads, a lot of your time will be spent navigating ancient cities and towns with extremely narrow streets and inadequate street signs. As others have suggested: pick the area that you want to visit and plan your route out with a map. There are many web site to use to find hotels. Bonne chance!
