Need help in deciding where to stay in Crete

Hello,
we are a family of four, and we are staying in Crete for 5 nights. I have to choose between Casa Del Fino (2 bedroom suite) and Villa Dionysia , a VRBO listing (http://www.vrbo.com/332483#).

Both look like they are in good location, the VRBO price is cheaper by 500 euros. Any thoughts on either one of them ?

I have stayed a few times at Casa Delfino, which is one of my favourite hotels in the old town of Chania, and only a few steps away from the Venetian Port....
But looking at Villa Dionysia i have to say that it beats Case Delfino totally !!

I am only not sure where it is located, as there is no address, other than a circle on the map, indicating where the villa might be.... but if it is within this circle, then it is very central in the old town !

I would chose Villa Dionysia

Thank you clausar !! Yes, the description and details about the villa says it is centrally located.

Here is what I got as a reply
"Villa Dionysia is situated within a very short walking distance to all the amenities and facilities around the Old Town, whereas the Venetian Harbour with all the traditional fish taverns and restaurants is less than 100 meters (less than 110 yards away). More to the above, within a very short walk, one can get to the newer part of the city with all the new shops and restaurants. The nearest sandy beach to the house is in Koum Kapi (East End of the Venetian Harbour), which is only 5-7 minutes’ walk away. Also, Nea Hora’s sandy beach, which is situated on the west side of the Venetian Harbour can be reached on foot. More to the above, our office is very near to this house too, and we will be able to assist you with anything you might need at any time."

So, I am thinking it's not too far from Casa Del Fino ? Your response is encouraging

It said in the listing that it is the Turkish Quarter. Isn't that where the restaurant Well of the Turk is located? Charming. I would rent the Villa Dionysia

Yes that sounds very central, i have never rented from vrbo , but somehow i find it essential to know the exact address of the accommodation before someone goes ahead and make a booking.
The description of the location sounds just fine though !
I am sure you will have a great time there

Make sure you report on this rental in Chania after you return home.

We have also stayed at the Casa Delfino and loved it. The VRBO listing however looks lovely. The only caution I would have is that VRBO listings sometimes look a lot better than reality.

Thanks ! I have rented through VRBO in Hawaii both in Big Island and Maui. Both of them were fantastic, couldn't have got that type of accommodation in hotels. So far I have had good experience through VRBO.

I will let you all know how it goes !

This might not be super helpful, but go stay in Lentas and don't look back. Tiny little undiscovered jewel in Crete.

travelGR Lentas has nothing in common with OP's dilemma between two upscale types of accommodation....in Chania...

Lentas is nice, but definitely for those having a different travel style.

Did you return from your trip? Where did you stay. We are thinking about Casa Delfino.

I was in Chania when this post started. Although late I do have some images of the Turkish quarter. It is probably a bit more than 100 meters from the harbour area but it is fun to wander around. There were several nice looking places that were rental apartments in the area.
