Need help in deciding

We are traveling to Venice and spending 4 days there then on Bologna. But we are deciding to travel by car to Puglia Region, Bari, Lecce, etc OR should we go and see Verona, Lake Garda and the Dolomites?

I would stay in the north - it is a LONG way down to Puglia.

Three nights in Venice should be enough.
You might get some info from my travels - http://www.rimerson.com/
I agree that it sounds like a long drive.

Roblm, thanks for your website. What about Bologna, Parma, Modena, Verona, and then to Dolomites?

I agree---stay north and enjoy both Lago Garda and the Dolomites. Allow at least 5 days for that.

Well its not too hot to go South and the place is still not too busy. Puglia is very different from the North, still a fair bit of poverty and you often find a beautiful old town hidden inside a donut of less attractive blocks of flats. Despite that there are some lovely places to visit, the area was very much part of ancient Greece before the Romans invaded and some particular periods were very pleasant in terms of great buildings.

But you have to get there... I'd fly to Bari or Brindisi, get up on the Murge and visit places like Gravina or down to Lecce.
