need help getting from Cadiz to Lagos
Hi,
As our trip to southern spain is approaching in less than 2 weeks, we are looking to figure out how to get from southern spain to lagos. So far itinerary goes something like this: Arrive Sevilla Go to Malaga, spend 1 or 2 nights there then on to Ronda, then on to Cadiz.. and then somehow get to Lagos, Portugal. How in the world do we get to Lagos from Cadiz.. must we go through Huelva? We are leaning against renting a car, so bus or trains are our best options. Thanks!! |
It is a four hour drive, going to Seville and then Huelva and cross the border.
There is no train from Huelva to the border. Don't know buses. |
It looks like there are two buses from Huelva to Lagos everyday, one in the morning and another in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday.
This is the website of the buses company, I'm sorry they don't have an english translation : http://www.damas-sa.es/ |
I try to keep things as simple as possible: you're going to have to make several changes along the way. Comes SA Buses from Cadiz mostly terminate at Sevilla's Prado de San Sebastian bus station. Buses for Huelva and Portugal use Sevilla's Plaza de Armas terminal.
Here's how I would do it: Comes SA Bus Cadiz-Jerez de la frontera; Train (the Jerez train station is co-located w/the Bus Station) Jerez-Sevilla & Sevilla-Huelva Termino. Trains run about hourly on both those routes. For skeds check http://www.renfe.es The Huelva bus station is also co-located w/the Huelva Renfe station. EVA-Bus (Portuguese) & Damas SA to Albufeira or Lagos. Note: Although you are changing modes of transportation, my itinerary does not require any change of Station or expensive taxi rides between them. |
I was also thinking of trying to go from Seville to Lagos. How long is the Seville - Lagos bus trip?

Don't take a por Pueblos bus for the Sevilla-Huelva leg. The ones that take the Expressway get there in half the time (i.e., less than 90 min). From Huelva, I think it's about 4-hours to Lagos (less to Faro or Albufeira). I haven't done that 'leg.' |
unfortunately the problem we have run into is that we need to return to seville on a sunday for a monday flight. But i dont think this is possible since the bus runs mon-fri.
anyone have experience with this? |
I'm 6'4" and many buses are very cramped for me [40 minutes max], is this a no go? And is there a 'strait' way to Lagos..., or will I be a little bummed out? or is the Civil'e heat :) just getting to me?
