Need help finding a certain souvenir in PARIS!

Hi Everybody,

My co-worker has requested a particular souvenir from Paris: a miniature Eiffel Tower that lights up!

I know, I know...it's "kitschy." But my co-worker LOVES kitschy things.

Is it possible to find one that looks cute AND will not break instantly?

Thanks for your help!

I would be surprised if you could not find one at the shops at the ET.

Thanks, starrsville! Not sure if we will make it to the Eiffel Tower on this particular trip. (We were thinking of going up there at night for the views, but the stores may be closed during that time.)

Was thinking there might be a store which has fun souvenirs, but at the same time aren't too cheaply made. (We'll be staying in the Marais.)

I would be surprised if you could not find one at the shops at the airport.

There are souvenir shops on rue de Rivoli..

Thanks to you both!

The shops across from the Louvre on Rue Di rivoli will probably have them

Great! Thanks, Suzanne.

There's also a ton of shops across from Notre Dame which are full of that kind of thing. Personally, the more kitschy the better!

We just got back from Paris. You'll find them all over. There are new ones that light up in beautiful colors (red, blue...).

Sharon: Yes, I embrace kitsch!

DJK: Colors...Cool!

Just got back from Paris a few days ago and was also in search for kitschy gifts. Many of the booksellers along the Seine have various ET souvenirs as well as the souvenir shops along Quai St Michel (across from the Ile de la Cite). I was worried after visiting the museum bookshops that i wouldn't find just the right sort of tacky gift i wanted for my sister (not a single Mona Lisa switch plate in the Louvre!), but lo and behold, my needs were met in the above locations. Best of luck!

Thanks, claude!

I agree about the shops on rue de Rivoli across from the Louvre. They sell various types of Eiffel Tower souvenirs.

The best quality yet cheapest souvenirs I've found are at Maison de Paris, 5 Quai de Montebello, not far from Nôtre Dame!

Now you all have my curiosity piqued. How does the Eiffel Tower light up? Is it battery operated? What size (s) does it come in? I've only ever seen "basic" towers that don't do anything.

I always by kitsch at the souvenir shops near the Notre Dame. As you face Notre Dame, look to the street on your left and go along there.

mermaid,

I think the light-up Eiffels come battery-operated or plug-in.
