Need help figuring out train cost in Spain.
 

I'm trying to figure out if I should by a 3 day eurorail pass or just buy individual tickets. When I look on raileurope, it says that it costs $33 from Barcelona to Gerona. But, on Renfe.com, it says about 6.25 euro and Renfe has more times. I find the same issue when looking at costs from Seville to Cordoba. About what price should I expect to pay? Thanks for any help figuring this out.

RailEurope lists only selected trains and not nearly all of them. Use prices on www.renfe.es for your comparison to Raileurope issued Spain Rail pass. It's hard to see the pass being cost-effective from trains you seem to be taking. RailEurope prices also are significantly higher than those on renfe site because they mark them up so much. Forget the Raileurope site when comparing prices.

PalenqueBob gives you a partial answer. RailEurope just lists what used to be called: largas distancias (Renfe) trains and Girona-Barcelona is probably covered by Regional Rail or what we would call Commuter Rail. I don't think the same applies Sevilla-Cordoba: that is an AVE route.

You might consider buying a SpainPass or an IbericPass (Spain & Portugal). A Renfe Ticket Agent said he could sell me one if I showed a non-EU Passport with a Direccion General de Seguridad entry stamp. They're much cheaper than Eurailpass.

BTW: You can get to the Regional Rail skeds from the Renfe website

sevilla - cordoba MUST have other trains than the AVE. i took a commuter train years ago and can´t imagine they have discontinued that service because the ave doesn´t even share the same tracks.

The Andalucia Express runs between Sevilla - Cordoba at a cost of 7.55€, tourist class only. It takes about 1h20.

Thanks so much for everyone's help. We aren't going to buy a pass and will just buy tickets as needed. We found really cheap flights on http://www.vueling.com.
