Have you checked the Hotel Dersaadet? It received very good reviews on trip advisor and we are staying there prior to boarding probably the same cruise ship you are leaving on May 19th.

My favorite hotel I stayed is the Zeynep Sultan Hotel in Sultanamet. The location is great, and the hotel is extremely clean. I hate carpets in hotels and they have clean tile, new bathrooms, great breakfast. And their prices are quite low. I found this hotel on Fodors the first time I went Turkey and I have been very happy. They have a good website : http://www.zeynepsultanhotel.com

Simply use www.hrs.de.

They show the hotels with available rooms only - together with comprehensive information about location, facilities, photos etc. It is very comfortable and there is no need to ask dozens of hotels if they have rooms available.

Hotel Ambassador - plain but great location and it fits your criteria.

Check Eurotraveler's trip report of Turkey (On this board) and she recommends some others that I can't remember at the moment.

We stayed at Mavi Ev (blue house) inn, in Sulthamet (sp?) district. It was lovely, reasonable and has a rooftop restaurant that looks directly onto the blue mosque.
We paid $90 per night in August, we loved it.

We also enjoyed our stay at Mavi Ev. When we had an early departure they had breakfast available for us at 6:00 AM. Great service.

I also booked into the Ottoman Imperial on the recommendation of a local [turkish] travel agent. It looks nice, is less than a year old and therefore not so well known. By the time we can give you our impression you will have left home. My suggestion is take it. With I believe one exception, The Tripadvisor reviews are good.
