Need Cheaper accom for Prague

Hi everyone,
I've combed through a lot of suggestions for hotels/pensions in Prague. Unfortunately, most of these are still too pricy for me.

I'll be there at the end of Oct, which is still high season. Has anyone found a clean and well located place for ~50 euros per night.

Also, I've read that some people have rented rooms from private families and enjoyed that arrangement. Has anyone done so and can give me the contact info?

Also, I found an apartment on mary.cz. It's the Londynska apartments "near Vinohrady, 10 min. walk from Wenceslav Sq." Address is:
Londýnská 28, Prague 2. It's very cheap (37 euros for double).

Can you tell me if this is a good location or if it is easily accessible by subway/trams??

Thanks very much for any help.

I've used this company a few times and found them good to deal with.

Unfortunately I don't know of the place you mentioned. You might want to up your budget a little (maybe to €70) if you want anything half decent. If you don't book anything in advance you could always check out the locals in the train station/s touting for rooms to let. You won't get the Ritz but at least make sure the room's not out in the suburbs. If you have a backpack (?)they'll more than likely approach you anyway.

I have never heard of those apartments, but that is a good location. It's only a couple blocks from two metro stops -- Namesti Miru or IP Pavlova. There is also a tram line nearby. It's a good area from what I know.

Thanks Marcus and Christina.

I think I'll book at Pension 44 (in the same area- Namesti Miru). It's only 1250 czk (39 euros) and includes breakfast.--Have you heard of this one? Pictures of the room looks very decent.

Hi mmyk72,
I am sure there are Pensions available for that price.
Have a look on these sites for what you want then try to contact them directly if you can.

Good Luck
