Need Apartment Recommendation

Bonjour,

My wife and I will be traveling to Paris from London from September 7/8 to September 16th.

Was thinking of letting an apartment rather than a hotel. Need to keep my cost below $150/night if possible.

Have looked at the Saint Germaine area which sounds like a great area to stay. Also the area close to Notre Dame in district 5 sounds nice too and well located.

Your advice and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Merci beaucoup,

John

Bonjour John,

We rented one for our family last year from Vacation in Paris: http://www.vacationinparis.com/

They have lots of apartments all over Paris, and many of the studio and one-bedroom apartments are within your budget. The company is American, which simplifies things a bit; you pay in advance and they send you the key and instructions. I found them honest, professional, and very easy to deal with.

We had good luck with vacationinparis.com too. They don't have much in the 6th though.

we will be staying in the 7th arr. in an apt.. I booked it with www.privateparis.com . It is on the rue de grenelle and hope it is as nice as it appears. They, thus far, have been very pleasant to work with. Give it a look!

My daughter and I are renting this apartment.

The owner has been very good to deal with and it really is just around the corner from the Trocadero, but looks like a nice neighborhood. It's well within your budget. I chose it because it's not in the midst of the tourist areas 4th - 7th, but easily accessible.

Good luck on your search.

My daughter and I stayed at vrbo.com/9528 for 2 weeks and loved it. It is in the 7th but very convenient to metro and walkable to the Orsay, Rodin, Invalides. Of course, the metro makes anywhere you end up very convenient!

Also, checkout beau-paris.com for some bargain spots in the 6th. Haven't stayed in any but I'm thinking about it for my next solo trip. Having an apartment is really nice. lynda

did you ever check out homexchange.com they gear towards owners that swap their appartment and houses but a lot of them rents out as well. And rates are really good

I found a wonderful little apartment using the website www.homelidays.com, I've not heard too many people on the boards talking about this service, but from what I gather, it's clientele seems to be more European based, so that may explain the lack of American opinions on it. It seems quite popular with the most apts being in France. It is a French site, but you have the choice of choosing English as thelanguage viewed.

laartista, I will report on the apartment once I get home. I looked for sometime before finally choosing one and I have to admit that reading the posts lead me to the 7th and this apt. I am going in June but won't be back till mid July, so look for my report after that.

Thank you for the info!,

Hi John,

http://www.vrbo.com/20017

I rented this apt for 8 weeks last fall, it was great. Very convenient, safe, clean, and the owner is wonderful! He has other apts as well if this one does not work for you.

The apt does not have a view but everything else you need is there. Washer and dryer, big bathroom, grocery stores are nearby, 24 hour Interet Cafe down the street, plenty of places for cheap eats, 2 minute walk to Notre Dame and nearby metro stops.

Happy planning,
Alicia
