have a look at this company ,highly reliable. |
We always use www.homeaway.com and have been extremely pleased. Or you could try www.vrbo.com which we have used as well. We loved Prague. jk

Thanks for your replies, unclegus and jan47ete. I'm too late for the best of travel cook, but I've sent inquiries to several homeaways, or is that homes away, located from just east of the Jewish quarter to a few blocks southeast of the National Theatre. Any advice about preference for either neighborhood?
|
south east of the national theatre would be my preference but either place would be fine as you will have pretty good transport links in both places and the old town etc will be easily walkable, If you pst the actaul streets the aparment are in i can better advise.I travel to Prague 2 or 3 times a year and have done for many years and know the place reasonably well.

Thanks for your kind offer to tell you street names, unclegus. An apartment is available at Brehova 8 around the corner from Listopadu going toward Parizska. I'm waiting to hear from Apartment Residence Karolina 50 meters from the Natl Theatre, from Apt Residence Ostrovni, from Residence Masni at the corner of Mala Stupanska, and an apt on the corner of Tynska and Dusni. I'm also wondering how crucial air conditioning would be. I'll be there mid-August. My previous Prague experience was a few days in early August when it was very hot and humid.
|
they are all preety good locationwise, the one in Tynska is really close to the Old Town square and the Ostrovni one close to anyamount of tram/metro lines, but noe are that far away overall.I would really choose onw that most fits your needs.
As to Air-Con,many of these buildings will be old thick walled places that tens to be a lot cooler than their more modern counterparts and as far as weather goes you just never know.It has been a while since i was there in August (2002 during the great floods) but I have never experience really humid weather there. |
must spell check before i post, hope you get the general idea.

Charles Bridge Residence, at the west end of the bridge. We stayed there in May and were very pleased. The place is also one of TripAdvisor's best choices.

thanks to all for all your suggestions. I'm on a trip right now with infrequent Internet access. We've reserved a place near the Jewish ghetto and hope it's as nice as the ones you've suggested. When I'm better connected I will post again to ask for other advice about what to do and where to eat. Thanks again.

One can easily spend a fortune on restaurants in Prague. OK, maybe not a fortune, but Prague is certainly not the cheap city it used to be, not at all. In another thread, asking for restaurants in Prague (and Budapest) I suggested a place we were very pleased with (probably the BEST deal we had during our 4-day visit there), both for food, ambiance and price, I later learned that the place is known as a classic in Prague:
Cafe Louvre, near, or at new town, next to the national theater, at Narodni Trida 22 (I kept the business card). |
7 Angels has great, LARGE, apartments located midway between Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge (a great location) Ina nice 15th century building. Highly recommended.
|
I like Cafe Louvre too. for some great suggestion have a look at this blog.
