Need answers about southern Italy

I am planning a trip this Nov. and am just in
the talking stages. Fly to Rome and take a
train either to Positano or Maratea and then
tour Sicily. Has anyone stayed in Maratea?
Positano is suppose to be the place to stay;
however, since we will be traveling by train
and busses--perhaps Maratea would be better.
If anyone out there has information on train and bus travel from Rome to either one of these areas please let me know. Any other additional info. would also be much appreciated. Anyone taken a tour of Sicily leaving from these areas? Thank you for any information.

or on Capri.
