Very true about hurting my ankle doing something special. In fact, all through our trip I've been prompting my 8 yr old son to look at the bright side of things when something goes wrong. I realized he finally got it when he said, 'Hey, you hurt your ankle but at least you're in Switzerland!' Unfortunately we missed out on a few things in Zermatt - we were going to ice skate after Klein Matterhorn and had decided to ski on our last day but those weren't possible. We got a lot of use out of the pool though!

So, the Business Park was okay. I don't have any real complaints but I can't say we enjoyed our stay. It was a bit far from the airport but had a free shuttle, though you had to make reservations 24 hrs in advance. (I confirmed the shuttle through email before I reserved our room.) There was nothing around so we felt a little stranded and skipped dinner, not feeling up to a search. On short notice, the rate was much lower than I could find anywhere else and it served its purpose but it was bland and far and I wouldn't really recommend it unless someone just needed a place to sleep and a ride to the airport.

As for Residence Patricia, we loved it. With the price and amenities I would highly recommend it (unless someone is not concerned about budget at all and doesn't plan to cook any meals in.) I didn't find check in to be a problem - you have to walk by the BW anyway and check in was fast. Directions from there were a little vague but the distance wasn't bad. There were a few times when I wished for an in-house phone to BW reception (e.g. the internet went out the night I hurt my ankle and I had no way to tell reception about it.) It was a close enough walk to the train station but a bit far from the ski area and lifts though the free shuttle stops nearby and will take you to the lifts. Check out was just another quick stop in on the way to the train station to turn in the key card and the TV remote. I didn't find it inconvenient.

Hope that helps if you get qxs in the future.

BTW, I forgot to mention specifically how helpful it was to know about driving the roundabout way to the airport instead of passing through Switzerland. Its one of those things that would have caught me by surprise. You saved me 40 CHF!

Ciao -

Your son is wise beyond his years! Glad I could save you some money, you can buy me lunch next time you're in the neighborhood ;-)

Thanks for all those details re: accommodations! Sounds like the Business Park Thoiry is only an acceptable option if you have a car, since there's no restaurant on site or adjacent. Novotel Ferney is definitely preferable in that regard.

Great to hear that the Patricia is such a nice place, it's always good to have an affordable option in Zermatt.
