We were in Sevilla and Granada last year during Holy Week. The processions were very interesting in both cities, though there are a lot more of them in Sevilla and they were more elaborate there. However, the processions in Granada were well worth seeing, too--more laid back than Sevilla.

In Granada, the procession of the patron virgin of the city ,Virgen de las Angustias, is always celebrated on the last Sunday of September,as long as it doesn't rain, hehe! The Holy Week in the north is completely different to that of the south. In the north they are simpler, humbler and less decorated and people are more serious. In the south they are overdecorated, barroque, and more artistic. As we are Mediterranean we are also more pasionate, that's why processions are more vivid and people usually cheer when the float passes by. In Malaga are specially big and very impressive, the ones I prefer. Wih all due respect to Zamora, precessions in the south are incomparably more beautiful and eye-catching. I'd never change the Holy Week in the south for one in the north.
