Amy, I guess my offer is not taken up, then. Too bad for me. I do hope that it's the right hat you get, and not somebody else's.

I can't imagine myself going to so much trouble for anything I left behind but, then, I am not very sentimental. Perhaps if I arrived home without Herself I might be a tad bothered, but she is resourceful, and would be able to make her own way home.

Paddy - will you, if i pay your way, go to Amsterdam and bring me back some things 'I forgot' there? Weighs about 10 kilos so now real heavy and then bring it to me here?

thanks, you're a pal

Well, as I said in my second post to this thread, I do love a challenge. And I am a firm believer that peoplelike to rise to an occasion. Luckily, my hoteliere took it on! As of this morning, she had the hat in her possession. I do believe it is my hat based on the description offered by the restaurant staff member I spoke with. (fingers still crossed...)

As for the "value" of the hat...my good friend and I spent hours shopping for hats together, from Paris to Dijon and many points in between. She and I found this great store in Chalon Sur Saone (Chapeaux Chic et Gants de Cuir) and we both found hats in the same color, just by accident. They are two very different styles, each of which suit our different faces and styles.

My hat cost 51 Euro, which is not terribly expensive, but more than I would like to pay a second time (plus shipping), if indeed the store could even get me another. It was the only one in that shade of blue. But, mostly, it's the sentimental value and the associated memory of spending time with a good friend.

Amy - when you get it back will you post a photo of you wearing it? I'm dying to know what sort of hat is worth so much effort to retrieve it
