Need advice for Lazio and Campania Regions Italy

We are traveling to Italy in 2 short weeks (total of 3 week trip). Part of our plan takes us from Florence to visit Acquapendente, a city in the province of Viterbo, in Lazio. This is one location my grandparents emigrated from. I believe it is very near Lake Bolsena and possibly not far from Orvieto? From there we want to visit Rocca San Felice and Sant' Angelo dei Lombardi (very small and right near each other in Campania, Province Avellino) to again see where my other grandparents emigrated from. Then we will continue on to the Amalfi Coast for 6 days - possibly Salerno and Praiano 3 nights each. We plan to rent a car for a few days to visit the smaller places. So sorry this is long but I have these questions:
1)Should we rent a car when we arrive in Orvieto and stay there for 2 nights?
2)Would going from Orvieto to Rocca San Felice and Sant' Angelo dei Lombardi and then on to Salerno in one day be wise? We would return the car in Salerno and not have one for the AC.
3) Seems it would it make more sense to stay somewhere near Rocca San Felice and Sant' Angelo dei Lombardi for 1 night - but where??
So confused and so little time so any help will be greatly appreciated!!
