Need advice: Driving from Florence to Tuscany

We are planning on renting a car for the Tuscany portion of our trip. Should be rent in Florence or wait until we get to Tuscany? What is the average basic cost to rent a car? Thanks!

Firenze is in Tuscany ??? It is a reasonably large city and contains lots of hire car companies, there are several within 200 metres of the Train station. Spend your time in Firenze without a car then hire one and drive out into the wonderfull countryside of Chianti and Tuscany.

One you are in Florence or in Chianti you do not need a car to get to Tuscany. YOU ARE IN TUSCANY ALREADY!

I agree rent a car on the outskirts of town<BR>Auto Europe has car rentals with insurance included at zero deductible, most car insurance can not be waived in Italy, most credit cards do not include coverage in italy or it is secondary. WWW.autoeurope.com

It would probably be worthwhile for you to purchase a map before you leave, so that you can orient yourself. A good bookstore will have a map of Italy. A Tuscany map would be even better. I've used the Touring Club of Italy map of Tuscany.
