Need advice before booking...

Hi, there:

On our last day in Europe (07/28), We plan to do Rome --> London --> US.

Rome Ciampino to London Stansted by Ryanair. (06:35 AM to 08:15 AM)

LHR to US (depart at 4 PM)

Our questions are:

1. The outbound flight from Rome is at 06:35 AM. When do we have to get up? Is 4:30 AM enough? We will stay close to the Rome train station.

2. In the early morning of Rome, is it difficult for us to get a taxi? How much is the taxi cost from train station area to CIA?

3. We know we can take National express bus from STN to LHR (almost 2 hrs). Overall, do you think we have enought time to catch out flight back to US?

4. We also can choose to fly to London STN on 07/27 night. But the problem is the hotel around STN area is pretty expensive. Any reasonable ones around?

Thanks for any comments and suggestions!

I feel your pain on these early flights, we had a 6:45 flight out of venice and it was rough. But we were told to be there 2 hours in advance. We cheated a little and got there at 5:00. I think you need to be there by at least 5:00 so you'll probably have to get up earlier than 4:30. Also, I would have the hotel arrange for a taxi. In venice we did this and paid like 80 euro for a water taxi but at that time of the morning, I didn't care about price, I just wanted fast, efficient and safe transport. Spend the money on a cab, for sure!

Jz - I caught the same flight recently from Ciampino. You have no problem getting to Heathrow on time.

RyanAir have an Airport Bus service which leaves Rome at 04.30 for that flight.

It leaves from Via Marsala, 7
(- near Stazione Termini)
Journey time 30-40 mins.
Fare € 8

Here's the link:

Alternatively a taxi/limo service will cost about € 40-50.
Here are two:

Hope this helps ...

Done this myself and it is easy to call a shuttle service, do it several days ahead. They will pick you up at a designated time and are reliable. Probably 4:30 would be the time for pick-up. you will have no trouble getting to heathrow by 1pm. Reccomend 3 hours before there.

I also flew with ryan and stayed in a B&B close to the airport. They have their own website which is www.dormineconomia.it
