Just came back from London in early Oct this year. I used HOTELINK from my hotel in Earls Court to Gatwick. They have a van which seats 6 people with plenty of rooms for luggages. This should be perfect for your family of 5. I paid 22 pounds one way, which is reasonable. Very punctual. I don't know if they have a website, but because I don't throw things out, I have their phone number on my receipt. Number is 01293-532244. You can also book return trips, giving them at least 24 houir notice. Hope this info helps.

Wow. That's 110 pounds for a family of 5 on a shuttle that is likely to take other people as well. For $170 they should throw in a free tour of Buckingham Palace and a lunch.

Waaaay too much luggage. But that is not your question. I don't think you will be able to fit into any of the airport car services. Quit beating the bushes looking for something that probably doesn't exist. Hire 2 cars. Otherwise you will spend £100+ just to get to your hotel. Two cars will set you back £60 or £70 max.

Uhuh won't say it but I will : What the HECK is in all that luggage? My family of 4 spent 3 weeks in London and touring England and all we took was one carryon each, and a total of two checked suitcases. Even if your 3 days in London is preceded or followed by other locales, there's still no justification for loading up like that. It will be your undoing, transport-wise. There's really no alternative but to book yourselves two cars or an entire Hotelink.

xx, Andy has started a new thread, having exhausted the possibliities with his earlier one, entitled ". Has anyone used this airport transfer service in LONDON?" (Last post at 1 AM today). That thread already took him through the usual suspects including Swiss Cottage and Ray's London Transfers. Ray's not working on Christmas and SC doesn'thave a big-enough vehicle. Apparently Andy thinks he'll get different responses this time.

Andy, give it up! Nobody's going to be working on Christmas anyway. You'll be lucky if Hotelink is available. If allthey canhold is 6 passengersanyway, you and your family will haev only one other stop atmost. (Or not even that, once they see all that luggage they won't take a 6th passenger, they'll makeyou pay for the seat for your extra luggage.)

A big propblem with the Hotel Link service. it is very likely, unless your timing is perfect, you will be split up anyway. Unless you get to the Hotel Link desk when there is an empty van ready there will likely be 2 or 3 people already on board. You could send 3 of your party and all their huge luggage and then you'd have to wait for the next van to take the other 2. The odds you would have an empty Hotel Link right when you want it is slim and none.

And WHY three threads?

Andy-

I used APA Transfers in September (booked through Londontown.com) and though it was only for me, the vehicle was a Volkswagen van, with seating for 6 (not including the driver) with additional room for luggage in the back. Can't tell you if they're open Christmas Day, but several other companies book through the same site, it's worth a try.
