Need a small Amsterdam Hotel

I will be attending an academic conference in A'dam at the end of September. The venue is at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, which the information describes as "in the center of the city." I will be on my own and would prefer a smaller hotel or a B&B, preferably moderately priced, but I definitely want "en suite facilities"--I'm not seventeen any more!
thank you for your help!

It would help if you told us what you consider "moderately priced".

check out Estheria Hotel on Trip Advisor. Stayed there in May and wonderful. Great location on canal and close to everything.

The Academy is located at the Truippenhuis (Kloveniersburgwal 29, Amsterdam)....This B&B gets good reviews on Tripadvisor:

Sorry, I missed the 'definitely want' part.

Try Hotel Brouwer, very popular:

My husband and I stayed at Maes B & B in 2005--it was great--the hosts are wonderful, the breakfasts, delightful, and the location convenient...

Try Seven Bridges. I wanted to stay there last summer, but they only on room available and we needed two. We walked by and talked to the owner who was delightful!

How about Hotle Single? I stayed there in 1991? Then it was central but cheap.

My SO and I loved staying at the Bridge Hotel last November. Really sweet, comfortable rooms overlooking the canal, nice staff, good breakfast, easy access to most of the places we, as tourists, wanted to visit. Our double room was about 120 euro a night.

My wife and I stayed at the Flying Pancake B&B. We were very, very pleased by the choice.

My husband and I stayed at The Toren hotel a number of years ago. We were very pleased with the baths and it appears that they have a single bed (you didn't mention if you were traveling by yourself or not). However, the best thing we found about the hotel was that it was in a more residential neighborhood so it was quiet yet felt more authentic than something near the museums etc. Amsterdam is a very compact city so it would only be about a 10 minute walk to the Art and Science Center.

Looks like the site is in dutch only but here is the link to the contact page, to get an idea of where it is located. http://www.thetoren.nl/contact.php

Also click on "Kamers" link to see pictures of the rooms.
