Need a place to stay between Rome and Naples for one night.

We fly into Rome too late to drive the whole way to Amalfi that evening, so we were thinking of driving an hour or so south for the night. Any ideas of a nice, reasonable place with a restaurant nearby? Thanks.

We stayed in Frascati, on the outskirts of Rome, after picking up my sister at the airport. We drove up to Villa D'Este that day (we were saving Rome itself for later in the trip). Honestly, though, the drive to the Amalfi coast the next day was pretty easy. But I like the idea of an easy first day after that long flight.

Sperlonga--2 hours south of FCO and a fantastic village on the beach.

Bob, if Natalia is going to drive for tow hours for getting to Sperlonga, she might as well drive for 2 and a half hours and get to Amalfi!

If you don't want to drive as far as Sperlonga, you might stop in Anzio. While there you could visit the American and British cemeteries and the museum devoted to the WWII landing there. It's also a very nice, bustling seaport town.

I thought of that too, Alice, but I rented an apt. and really don't want to look for it at night, not to mention negotiating the Amalfi Drive in a stickshift car in the dark, after having driven only automatics for years . Oh, and they will only give me the keys between 5 and 7pm!
I will check into Sperlonga and Frascati, where do you all rec. staying in these towns?
Thank your for the help everyone.
