Need a perfect Christmas vacation in Europe
Help! We live in Oklahoma and in California and are looking for a perfect vacation in Italy. Only one person does winter sports, the rest of us like to hang out, explore, eat very good food. We have all been to Italy and the sports guy lived there. Looking for something different that isn't too wet and cold. Or suggest something else in Europe!! Thanks.

Is dry and cold OK?

How about either St. Anton or Lech? Both are ski resorts, but offer considerable fun, good food, and hanging out opportunities. PS. It's in Austria of course...

Innsbruck should be nice b/c there's much to do in the city and in the area, and the skier has lots of choices nearby.

Anyone of the perched Provencal villages should be a good base, also, just as in warm weather.

Note that most ski resort areas require a reservation of at least 14-21 days at Christmas time. We have gone ovr for about 6 trips at Christmas and really run into trouble finding a place in the resort areas when we only want to stay less than a week.

If you go through a travel agency that specializes in ski trips, you do not have to stay longer than a week at holiday times. I would recommend

london and england in general is very festive at christmas as is germany...
how about a few days in london before christmas and then move to a luxuary hotel in the country for the holidays....the day after christmas is called boxing day in england and is a holiday as well...

quatre saisons hotel and restaurant is very lux near oxford in the town where blenheim palace is located

michelelasker - I'm doing research for a similar vacation. You may want to enter the word Christmas in the text search box because when I did I came up with about 150 posts regarding Christmas abroad. It gave me a lot of information about different experiences in different countries during Chrsitmas. Good luck.

I think that if you set yourself up to look for the "perfect" trip, you're bound to be disappointed. Plan on a pretty darn good trip with the occasional mishap.
