Need a hotel - Claridge's or Covent Garden??
Going to London in March w/ my husband (he will be attending a conference in Docklands). Looking to stay at either Claridge's in Mayfair or Covent Garden Hotel in Covent Garden - which is in a better location? Which hotel do most people prefer? Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated

Claridges is a class act. It has amazingly comfortable and large rooms, a gracious staff, a well-equipped gym/spa, and a perfect location for exploring most of London.
Check their website carefully. They do offer specials from time to time that make the hotel a very good value.

It depends what you want to do in the area.
I wouldn't stay in Mayfair as it is all just expensive clothes shops (which hold no interest for me) & is dead at night apart from the grand hotels.
While some aspects of Covent Garden may be thought a bit tacky and/or aimed at young people, it has the Royal Opera House & is convenient for walking to the Coliseum, West End theatres, the South Bank (National Theatre etc), National Gallery & National Portrait Gallery. It also has some decent restaurants and pubs (& is near Chinatown), some interesting small specialist shops and there are always plenty of people around. So I think it would be a very good area to stay in. (I used to work very near by.)
People who've stayed there rave about the Covent Garden Hotel.
