Need a hotel between Rome and Sorrento, Italy.

We may be travelling by car from Rome to Sorrento. We would like to stop overnight somewhere between Rome and Sorrento. Do not want to spend the night in Naples. As a matter of fact, would like to avoid traffic as much as possible. Any suggestions on towns that may have hotels like our Hampton Inns or Hilton Garden Inns. Thanks for any suggestions.

Caserta has a Crowne Plaza (if you are a member of their points club it's a saver special right now - 5,000 pts per night) if you are a Star Wars buff and interested in touring the palace.

It's only a few hours drive between Rome and Sorrento so it's really not necessary to stop, but another option would be to drive down the coast road and stop at one of the beach areas. What route were you planning?

It is a 3 hour drive--why stop?
If you are starting at FCO then consider the lovely village of Sperlonga on the coast 2 hours south of the airport.

Kybourbon, we have no driving route planned as of yet, other than getting to Sorrento and stopping some place nice to spend the night. We want to stay away from high traffic areas if we can, and take in the landscape and if any sites on the way. We may be leaving Rome’s airport area late afternoon the first day and try to arrive in Sorrento the next day late afternoon or early evening. I am looking for not just hotel but driving route information. Thanks again for your advice.

Use either viamichelin or mappy to plot a driving route.
