7 nights and 8 days in portugal

we are family of three and traveling to Portugal in second week of June , arriving to lisbon on 8th afternoon and leaving on 15th late morning. We like to explore old heritage sites/buildings , beaches , castle and natural wonders , while not much interested in night life.

In our must have destination , we have planned , Lisbon , Sintra , Cascais and Algrave while we have few other places also in mind but not sure how many we can cover in days we have in hand. In other palaces , we would like to see Porto , Obidos , Coimbra , Evora and Averio but as we know all can not be covered so we are ready to drop couple of places so please suggest itinerary keeping our preferences in mind and also advise how many nights we should spend at which place so that hotels can be book accordingly.

I would appreciate, if you can suggest travel distance and which mode of transportation to be taken keeping time and cost saving both in mind.

thanks in advance.

BR

7 nights is never 8 days - you will have 6 full days plus a couple of hours (perhaps) on your arrival day, when you are let-lagged.

So in 6 days you have listed 4 destinations planned and 5 more you'd like to see. Figure out your top priorities, and choose maybe two bases (places you will spend the night) and figure out what places can be done as day trips. Otherwise, you'll spend all of your time in transit - unpacking, repacking, trains, etc.

If the third person in your family is a child, you will want to make sure to give him/her time to enjoy a park, a swim, etc. Children do better with fewer moves so they can settle in somewhere.

Sintra, Cascais, Evora and Obidos are reasonable day trips from Lisbon. Forget the others. Also, as Kathie says, you don't have very long, and Lisbon plus Belem plus Sintra could easily fill all of it.

Suggest reading some guidebooks, and some of the TRs here. Mine is a bit dated but still valid:
