Need a destination for 10 days in May

I just found out that I will have some free time at the end of May and have no where in mind to go. Would prefer a direct flight out of PHL and FF miles on Delta or a partner would be a bonus. I'm thinking an overnight 10 hr. or less flight would be best since we only have 10 days. Weather anywhere fom 40 to 90 is ok. No real dislikes and would prefer a decent public transportation system rather than a car rental. Anyone have a favorite at that time of year?

Yes, Italy!!! But what country calls to you mileaday Not knowing where you have been to before, what your interest are, what type of cultures you like etc I think most would find it difficult to suggest somewhere.

Late May is the best or nearly best time of year in most all of Europe. And since most of Europe also has good/good-ish public transport, it is sort of difficult to give you any sort of recommendation w/o knowing at least a bit about what sorts of things you like . . . .

I was posting at the same time as LoveItaly - basically the same message - tell us something and we can help.

As I said no major dislikes but love art, museums, theater, walking, people watching and just exploring. When others say you can see the city in a day or two, we find that we have only scratched the surface after a full week. Have seen much of the UK,France, Germany, Spain and Italy. Have a trip to Greece scheduled for Sept. Our most recent trips have been to Asia but this time I only have 10 days and don't want to spend too much time in the air. Rex - I've had the pleasure of visiting Cleveland. Is there something special going on in May?

Easy. Swiss lake cities and villages. Lucerne's lake (easy public transportation to numerous museums) and Ticino (Lago Maggiore or Lago Lugano.) J.
