Need 1 night hotel in Munich suggestion near airport

We need an inexpensive to medium price hotel suggestion near the Munich airport. Due to booking with frequent flyer miles we will be departing from Munich and need a place to stay the night before departure, preferably near the airport in order to drop off the rental car in time and to catch the flight. Thanks.

The airport is an easy 40 minutes from the center of town by train. The trains run every 20 minutes *I think* all night long. You could return the car the day before, train back into town and spend your last evening there.

Steenburger Exprix--I'm sure I spelled that wrong, but perhaps someone will jump in here and correct it so you can look it up on the net. Large, American-style hotel. They run a shuttle to the airport so you can stop at the hotel, drop off luggage, return car, catch the shuttle back and then shuttle again before your flight. It has absolutely no charm (it's pretty much like any American chain motel) but it meets your criteria.

Re the previous post. It's Steigenberger Hotels and they have a web site.

The train from the airport to Munich takes a good hour. I know because I was on it just a month ago. I also asked several German riders and they all told me it took an hour.

The Maritim Hotel is near the Munich train station and a Meridien is under construction there. I don't know when it will be completed. I don't know about any hotels near the airport.

I tried to stop my answer from posting yesterday, but it was too late. There is a Steigenberger Exprix by the Frankfurt Airport, I'm not sure about Munich. Sorry.

Not to be too picky, but it's 37 minutes from the airport to Marienplatz on the S8, 40 minutes to Hauptbahnhof (the main station). On the S1 line, it's 48 minutes to Marienplatz and 45 minutes to Hauptbahnhof. They run every 20 minutes from roughly 4am to midnight. The Kempinski hotel is at the airport but I think it's expensive.

Paige,

So that is how you spend your time--riding the trains and timing the trips. Interesting life.

Jackson, that snitty response was absolutely uncalled for. Paige lives in Munich and probably consulted her timetable for Pete's sake. Back off.

Tina, we did the Marriott in the charming village of Freising about :10 from the airport. Our flight was at 8:00 and took their shuttle bus.
