Near Naples Airport
 

We are leaving on an early morning flight out of Naples to Milan. We will be staying in Amalfi before this. Can someone recommend a nice place to stay closer to the airport so we don't have to be up sooooo early to get to the airport? Should we stay in Naples? I am not so fond of what I hear. Is the Grand Hotel Vesuvio nice in Naples? Any other places we should stay instead?

How early is sooooooooo early? Packing up and paying for a taxi transfer to a place you're already not so fond of sounds not worth it to me for the sake of another 40 minutes sleep. No matter where you stay, you'll be dealing with Naples traffic, and another taxi bill.

Sorrento would be the second choice if you don't want Naples. But I'd rather get up an dawn and see Capri in the pink light.

If early morning means really early, why not Holiday Inn in a modern area of Naples, very close to the airport. Very good the restaurant.

Just don't stay in an airport hotel.

This is an excellent hotel in an upscale area of Naples; I like the area better than that of the Vesuvio, which is a more luxurious hotel on the seafront. We spent two nights at the Alabardieri in May and were very pleased. But honestly, the drive from Amalfi to the airport is not that long, so you could certainly remain there your last night:
