Naxos vs. Folegandros - 3 day stay in July
We are still fine tuning our July trip to the Greek islands, and I am seeking help/advice with the following:
We plan on staying in Crete ("C" for approx. 5 days (4 days Chania and 1 day Heraklion), and in Santorini ("S" for 3-4 days.
For our third island, we are deciding between Naxos ("N" and Folegandros (F", each of which are accessible from Santorini.
If we choose N.,we will be arriving, probably, first in C and will "beach" it for the first few days as we recover from our flight from Toronto. We will then go to N. and end off with S.
If we choose F., it gets a bit more complicated, when taking into consideration the probable and possible ferry schedules -
(a)we can arrive first in S., stay for 3 days, and at 9:10 PM on the evening of the 3rd day go by ferry to F. (arriving at 1:00 AM) stay for 3 days, and on the morning of the 4th day go by ferry back to S (arrive at 9:40 AM), spend the day there, and depart for C. at 5:15 in the afternoon by high-speed ; or
(b) we can arrive in C., spend 6 days there, and go by high speed ferry to S. on the 7th morning, spend 3 days there, and, again, go to F. on the 3rd night via the "9PM -1AM Special" and after 3 days there, return to S.
and stay over-night in S. and fly out the next morning for Athens/Italy.
Please advise, if you can as to:
(a) do the normal ferries and the high-speed boats arrive and depart in Santorini at the same port?
(b) how long does it take to get from the Santorini airport to the docks (or, if the ports are different for each type of boat, the 2 ports)?
(c) If we arrive by plane from Athens to Santorini at about 1:30, could we possibly easily make a ferry to F. at about 3:00/3:30?
(c) Is the apparent extra trouble to come and go to F. worth it - we really would much rather prefer going there than to N. based on Lisa's unbelievable pictures and the apparent difference in accomodations.
As always, thanks for any assistance!

nevertooold, I can only reply to your last question. We spent 4 nights on Santorini 2 years ago, ferried to Folegandros for 3 nights, then to Naxos for 3 nights.
We would highly recommend Folegandros....we loved it! It was so quiet and peaceful in comparison to our other stops, just a delightful break in the middle of our trip. We stayed at Anemomilos apartments and they were most helpful, when we were making reservations, with ferry schedules. They know what the ferry options are and can help you plan accordingly.
We did enjoy our stay on Naxos but, given the choice, would return to Folegandros.
Sorry I can't help with your logistical questions.

We absolutely loved Naxos, fabulous beaches, great shops in the town. You can hire a car and drive round the island, we drove up to a traditional fishing village called Apollonas. We stayed at the Kavos Hotel on Ag Prokopios Beach and loved it. Have a look at their website www.kavos-naxos.com Barbara and the staff at the resort were great. I highly recommend the Kavos.
