Naxos: Kalergis vs. Glaros Studios

First time poster, long time reader. My family of 4 (DW and 2 daughters) is taking the plunge into Greece this year and I have a dilemma: my options for 6 nights in Naxos at the start of July are the Studio Glaros or Studio Kalergis. I know that the Glaros is well reviewed, but how bright is the studio flat? I am worried that it will be a bit dark and dreary (kind of like an accomodation in Sarlat, France we once stayed in). On the other hand, I know the Kalergis is right on the beach with a veranda looking at the waterfront. It is more expensive, but I will happily pay extra to avoid turning into a troglodyte.

Thanks.

We have stayed at Studio Glaros several times for two reasons. It is a budget hotel in the second row of hotels beyond St George Beach. It is in a residential neighborhood and that suited us well because we wanted to integrate into local life.
Unfortunately since Naxos Beach Resort has been built you have to walk about 200 meters to get to the beach because the resort has stopped non guests from walking across their property to the beach.
Glaros is certainly is not dark and dreary. It is simple accommodation with kitchenettes.
Last year my boss her son, daughter, mother and in laws stayed there and loved it. With all those people they were looking for simple and inexpensive and Glaros fit that bill and is also quiet at night.
I am not familiar with Kalergis but from what I hear it has great location.
Here are our pictures of Naxos
The ones headed Naxos Town St George beach neighborhood are all either of Studios Glaros or the immediate area nearby.

Artvan I just reread your post. Glaros has two and three bedroom units. You may want some privacy while you are there. Greece tends to be rather romantic!

Stanbr, just looked at your Naxos pics. Made me smile! I took me back to our trip to Naxos. Especially the ones of the mountain villages.

Thanks Stanbr - as a fellow Canuck, I appreciate your Naxos insights. Unfortunately, the flat is the only available accomodation. The maisonettes appear to have a mezzanine and that would have been perfect.

Thanks Wug.

I think there is only one Maisonette at studio Glaros #6, thats where we stay. It is really quite small with a single bed made by pulling out the couch. It would not be a good choice for 4 people.
The light in Greece is incredible and the flat is not going to be dark.
