Navigo Decoverte Recharge?
I understand one can recharge a Navigo Decoverte card for five years after initial purchase. I have been doing that for some time now, but I must be approaching the five year limit. My question is, "How can you tell the expiration date?" I have taken my cards out of the plastic holder, but I can find no notation of the date of purchase. Perhaps it is recorded on the chip, but that does me no good.
I don't mind paying the €5 fee to get a new card, but it might prove awkward when I get to Paris next, find I cannot recharge it, and do not have a new picture with me. |
My understanding is that they're good for ten years, not five.

Yup, it's 10 years:

Thank you very much, Marcy. I won't have to worry about that for another five years! By then I will be so senile my handler will have to take care of the renewal.

Think I'll ask the next time I recharge mine if they can tell how long is left . I know mine is at least 5 years old and likely older. I always carry an extra picture anyway. I know ours are from the first year they were issued.
