Nature of France

Had a few days to kill in France this summer so we decided to do some nature viewing in the French Alps and Pyrenees - what amazing places. Take a look at our travelogues - you will enjoy!

Cheers,
Coke

Excellent photos. The Pyrénées are much wilder and more beautiful than the Alps in many places, but not a lot of people seem to know that.

Thanks everyone! Yes the Pyrenees are every bit as amazing as the Alps. Loved the wildlife in both locations.

I have enjoyed all the photo essays you posted here from your travels in Europe. And I believe it is the first time I have seen the words "great rodent" used together, although now that I look back I don't see where I read that, maybe it was a hallucination. Also the first time I have seen photos of animal droppings posted here.

The owners of the house where I have stayed near the Pyrenees would be highly amused to read about your quest for the dormouse. They have been plagued by dormouse infestations and as this is apparently a protected species, it is very hard to get rid of them.

Hi Nikki, thanks for checking out the blogs! Yes the dormouse situation is problematic for many rural houses -they seem to love to chew electrical wires and poop in attics.... I am glad they are protected however - they are afterall, a "great rodent!

cokesmith, Beautiful photos in the Pyrenees! I'm trying to choose a place in the French countryside to visit in July on our 1st trip to France. We'll also see Paris of course.
