Naples train station to ferries

We will be arriving from Rome into Naples & going to Ischia via ferry.
When we arrive at the train station in Naples, what's the easiest way to reach the ferry? Is it within walking distance? We won't have luggage, so this might be an option. I just have no idea how long a walk this is. If we decide to walk, any suggestions for the best route? Anything along the way interesting? Are there any trains or buses available? Where would we pick up tickets? thanks

Hello Gipsy,

here is the route from Google Map,the "Molo Beverello" Harbor is only 2 km from the train station, and is for sure a good walk, you're in the center of the city, if you like Naples and wish to stay for few days, use www.allhome.eu

Have a nice time in Italy

Hi Gipsy - Tram No 1 goes from Piazza Garibaldi to the ferry dock (- Molo Beverello).

From Naples station, walk across to the far side of Piazza Garibaldi - the tram stop is near the Garibaldi monument.

You can buy tickets at the ticket kiosk in the middle of the piazza (- tickets must be 'validated' on boarding).

Hope this helps ...

Don't laugh....what do you mean by a tram? Is this a bus, train? Please keep in mind I've never traveled to Italy before!
thanks :)

On foot, it's a long walk. You need to allow half an hour as the pavements are crowded and the traffic is chaotic.
If you buy a ticket, you get a "UnicoNapoli" ticket which is valid on the buses, trams, metropolitana, funiculars, etc. You can therefore get on the tram which goes to the port or any bus. The ticket is valid 90 minutes so you can change between buses, trams, etc.

A tram is a vehicle that runs on rails along a street. They are to be found in many cities in Europe and throughout the world.

Which ferry terminal is the best one for Ischia? We will be coming from Rome also by train. Should we get off at Mergellina(?) or go to Centale?

Hi Souper - Ferry/hydrofoil services are generally more frequent from Molo Beverello - so it's usually better to go to Napoli Centrale.

I did what Steve James suggested in 2006 to go from Naples Train Station to Molo Beverello. It was easy and fast. I thought the tram was safe and people were more than happy to tell me where to get off in order to go to Molo Beverello.

Absolutely go to Molo Beverello. There are far more aliscafi from there.
