naples/nice train-pls help!
 

Can anyone help me plan my train back to Nice from Naples? I've been to the train website, but can't figure it out. From what I can see, I'll have to go through Genoa. My preference is to take a night train (sleeping car) from Naples to Nice on the night of Oct 24. Any advice would be appreciated!

Your train leaves Naples at 21:40. Your quickest way to Nice is to change trains at Genoa (Genova Piazza Principe) at 5:22, leaving at 5:42 and reaching Nice at 9:42. But it would be more comfortable to stay on board to the end of the line, at Turin (Torino Porta Nuova), getting off at 7:15 and boarding an 8:05 train that will get you to Nice at 11:25.

Thank you for this info! I was able to get this same schedule by calling raileurope.com, but the prices they were quoting were much higher than I was seeing on the trenitalia website. I am planning on buying this ticket for the 24th when I arrive on the 16th. Will that be buying far enough in advance to get a sleeping car/couchette?

October 24 is a Friday, so it will be more crowded than other nights of the week, but it's not a holiday weekend, as far as I know, so buying a week in advance should be fine.

Be aware that the train tunnel between Monaco and Menton has been closed for 3 months for repair. You must take a public bus, not provided by SNCF, to Ventimiglia. I don't know when it will open again.
