Naples Must-see
I am just overwhelmed by the sites in Naples after reading a guide book. We will only be spending a day there (as a day-trip)and we won't have enough time to see everything. Can you suggest 2-3 sites that are must-see. The Duomo? Galleries (with a 7-year old, I'm not sure the galleries will hold his interest for so long)? Parks? the Mercato?
Thanks.

Sincerely, Kate

I'd opt for the Duomo, the Museo Archaeologico (sp?) as a minimum.

Sorry, doing 2 things at once and accidently hit the Post button when I didn't want to. To keep you 7-year-old happy, take a ride ona funiculare (learn the words to the song so you can sing it to him before you go). Make sure you stop for gelato and get pizza for lunch. He'll love it. Then just walk around the city for whatever time you have left. Comparing Naples to your hometown will be "trip" enough. But please make sure you hold tightly to your son's hand at all times. He may complain, but the traffic is so unpredictable (the understatement of the century) I really feel it is a necessity. And have fun in my favorite city in Europe--well, one of my favorites at any rate.

Linda:

Thanks so much for your input especially holding tight to my son. I think I will do as you suggested as far as the sites. I think he will be interested in the archaeological museum.

Sincerely, Kate

If you are going to the Museum I would suggest that you and hubby take turns watching your child so that you may each go into the 'secret room' which houses all the erotic art from Pompeii...what a kick...quite the sexy bunch but NOTHING I would want a 7-yr. old to see. The tickets are included with entry but you must ask for them when you buy the regular ticket.
