Following as we’re going to be in Naples starting Sunday, we’re interested in a walking tour.

A guide is a great idea in Naples.
It seems that Rick Steves is pretty well connected with local guide networks so worth a try over there too, or on the Facebook page.

We used Marina de Martino and she was a fantastic guide, so full of knowledge and enthusiasm about her city. She is a gemologist as well and her parents had a jewellery store on Ischia so she still had wholesale contacts in Naples and took me to a couple of them where she helped me buy a cameo. I think she could put together any kind of tour you wanted. She took us to so many interesting places in the old historical centre: churches, crypts, a convent with a school attached, etc etc, telling stories and the history the whole time, she also drove us up into the more upmarket area of Naples just to see the views and the contrast. She does tours of Pompei and other places as well.
