Naples Hotels
I am catching an early a.m. flight (7:00 a.m.) and need a hotel for the day before. I am traveling solo, so need a safe area. I would like to be near the water. Budget allows $100 or less. It would be nice to be able to walk around and dine close to hotel.

Try the three-star, air conditioned Hotel Rex, on Via Palepoli, one block off of waterfront Via Partenope (behind the Hotel Excelsior) in the touristy Santa Lucia District, near a multitude of good restaurants. I really liked the restaurant "Il Posto Accanto", nearly next door to the Excelsior. Generally a safe and much-frequented area (stayed there myself for 7 days). Single room should run about 82 Euros. Reserve early, since this place is very popular and well-regarded. In the same neighborhood are six (6) four-star hotels, all on the waterfront itself and much more expensive. This is the only three-star in the general vicinity, and should be more than adequate for one night. Take a taxi to Capodichino Airport next morning for about 20 Euros. Read my many other postings on Naples on this site.

GAC:
Thanks for the info - that really helps. Does the Hotel Rex have a web page or email address? I think I will contact them asap. Thanks again,

The Rex does have a secondary web site, but it's awfully difficult to find. I don't have the address handy. Do a search in yahoo.it.

Not having much luck in finding Hotel Rex online, tried Yahoo and Google. I have an address and that's about it. Does anyone have any experience with this hotel? The location sounds great as does 82 Euro.

Bev: I found it: www.hotel-rex.it
Click on the color photos for further information. Single room should be about 88 Euros.

I must be doing something wrong - all I get is a big yellow blank screen.
