Naples Airport
 

We are trying to decide whether to fly home from Rome or Naples. How is the airport in Naples? Also, how long would it take in July to get from Positano to the Naples airport and also what would be the quickest way (we were thinking of doing private car service).

THe airport is fine. Positano to the airport takes about 1 3/4 hours by car.

Does anyone know of a reliable, not too expensive car service that would be able to do a round trip from Positano to Naples?

amrach, if I knew I would post it. But there has been an amazing rash of this same question over the past month with tons of answers. Type "Amalfi coast car service" or "Positano car search" in the search function and if it is working today, you should get dozens of posts including some websites, email addresses, and actual prices charged for that and similar trips in the area.

Duh, that should have been "Positano car SERVICE". Fingers working faster than the brain today.

I travelled to Amalfi which is about half an hour further than Positano from the airport. For 6 passengers in a Mercedes MPV with air con it was 100 euros. Excellent service and Renato speaks Ensglish which is great if you need to book him for further trips.

The airport in Naples is much improved recently and far nicer than Rome Ciampino (can't comment on Fiumicino although am going to Rome next week!)

Thanks Clare. I will contact him. Also thanks for reassuring me about the Naples airport. I just booked our flights so now we just have to book our hotels :) Have a great time next week in Rome.

Renato has been great so far! He has already emailed me a few times and seems really interesting. I also really enjoyed checking out his website. Does 70 EUR each way for 2 people sound reasonable?

I think it is reasonable as he is very reliable and easily contactable so you are also paying for peace of mind.
You know that you can contact him by phone and he will understand when you speak in English also!

He didn't actually drive us we had another driver in a Mercedes MPV but he was smart and polite and told us lots about the area. The drive to Positano is a fantastic one and it is great to experience it knowing you have an experienced driver!
