Thanks for the great trip report, Namaka. We will be there on October 3 for eight nights and are staying in Paulo's apartment. This will be our first visit to Portugal and we are looking forward to it! I will print out your thread as you have some good information for us.

I am looking forward to a LDC or at least a wine and cheese party while we are there.

I liked your Paris report as well. I just returned from there a few weeks ago and can hardly wait to return.

I am sorry about your accident but thankfully it turned out with no dire consequences. I hope the car company reimburses you without any hassle.

Liz2005, I can't believe it either! You read about how crazy and scary driving in another country can be, but to have something like this actually happen; and only within a couple of hours of getting the car! Joao (the young boy) was very lucky, indeed!

My poor husband was so upset; perhaps he thought the police would cart him away to jail-never to be seen again, lol!

My children are 12 and 8 and for the most part, handled the traveling and sight-seeing well.

Namaka, thanks so much for your report. It brought so many lovely memories. So sorry about your accident. We returned our rental car one day early because the traffic, the lack of parking and some of the Portuguese drivers were driving me nuts. Who needs the stress?

Judi, I'm sure you will love Paulo's apt just as I did. He has a notebook for any reviews people may want to leave; maybe when we write in it, we should all mention that we are fodorites?

I'm happy to hear that my trip report may help you. Afterall, isn't that part of why we post. If you want to ask me anything else, feel free to email me at [email protected]

Treesa- "who needs the stress?" That is exactly what our thoughts were! I'm glad you are enjoying the report since I am not near as good at writing as some.

Your trip report brought back so many memories

We went to Lisbon a few years ago with our children, and did many of the same things. We did have dinner at Bonjardim though...it was great and our waiter was so nice.

Amazing that that boy was ok!!!

We split our time staying in both Lisbon and Cascais.

I have been itching to go back and your report makes me want to go now!

Fabulous trip report! Your apartment in Lisbon sounds lovely. I am so happy that the young boy wasn't hurt in the accident... I can just imagine the panic you all must have gone through with that!

Namaka. My heart almost stopped when you described the accident.

Reading your trip report was a joy to me. I guess I feel somewhat connected because you found the apartment and we found it through you.

I especially found your report of revisiting your old neighborhood lovely. Even your family must have been excited for you.

Now I know that Tram 28 is right outside our door and also a taxi stand to take us to the airport.

Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words Sherry. Like with Matt and Lobo (Joao), I feel like I've gotten to know you these past 6 months. I hope that your trip is as enjoyable as ours!

Every once in a while I give my DH a kiss and say "Thanks" for helping to make another one of my dreams come true. This was one of the big ones; to go back. And I think that even the kids were a little excited to see my old haunts; especially since they have seen the pictures from long ago.

I can't wait till you go-I am so excited for you!

Judi- thanks for the lovely email. I just briefly got to read it after taking DD to her ortho appt, then the kids both took control of the computer. I am now on the lap-top and cannot open it again once its been opened on the other computer. I will try to get back over there later.
