Nairn to Edinburgh to home - route and where to stay

Jump to last reply

Well, thanks to everyone's help, I've got all our accommodations booked except our last night. (Actually, I'll put together a note on what we ended up with for you at some point). Our last full day, we leave from Nairn. Our plane home is the next day, from Edinburgh airport, early afternoon, so we don't have to leave for the airport at dawn.

I'd love some suggestions on an interesting route from Nairn to Edinburgh, good places to stop. I see that if we just stay on the highway, it should take 3 or so hours, so we can take a longer route if we like. We will be staying in Callander, so don't need to revisit that area, but we will be spending no time on the east coast if that's worth working in.

Also, should we stay IN Edinburgh (again, as we're spending our first 3 nights there) or is there somewhere near-ish to the airport that we might consider? We plan on returning the rental car at the airport.

Thanks for your always good suggestions.

Alice
