Mystique

A lot of us have been looking for information on this new hotel. I just got back from a week at Mystique and I have to say it was absolutely wonderful.

This was my first vacation in Greece, so I cannot compare to other hotels or islands. That said, I do travel quite a bit and stay often at Starwood’s "Luxury" line. The staff at the Mystique was beyond compare. Anything we asked for was done in minutes (an island cruise, a motorcycle rental, private laptop in the room, ....) In our experience, the service here was as good as, of not better than, any other hotel. In addition, the view from our private terrace (in the "spiritual suite") was wonderful. This is the perfect hotel for anyone who wants to spend the money to save the time to enjoy the island to its fullest.

<<save the time to enjoy the island to its fullest.>>

There are a lot of Greek islands; which one are you referring to?

Heimdall Sep 18th, 2007 11:37 AM

Why bother asking which island when it's so easy to get the answer with Google?

Why bother? Because it's considerate to provide the information up front.

This post has a flavor of advertising to it.

I have to agree that Mystique in Oia, Santorini is an excellent hotel. I have not stayed there but did tour it last June after it had been open about 5 weeks.

I will say, however, that approximately $1000/day, and this _NOT_ including the cost of food, is an awful lot to spend "to save the time to enjoy the island to its fullest." Nice if you can afford it, but I've completely enjoyed the island to its fullest for somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-75 euro/day....including meals!

We could Google everything and be done with Fodor's, but the point of putting the island's name in the title or text is that it will appear in a search.

And sometimes Googling is faster than waiting for a reply (which still isn't forthcoming from tbird03, btw).

Heimdall, surely you realize that the question wasn't so much a question as a subtle hint that the original poster should indicate where the hotel is that he is talking about. You do realize that, don't you?

People here get yelled at for making suggestions of how to better post their answers. I think Luisah did a great job of doing that without sounding like she was lecturing. Now please tell me her goal didn't go right over your head.

Heimdall Sep 18th, 2007 10:46 PM

Yes, I do realize that.

Heimdall Sep 18th, 2007 11:15 PM

Not wishing to start an argument here, but I would rather add knowledge in a reply than score a point by reminding someone they forgot to include important information.

It was easy to find out which island the OP was referring to and add it to the thread, and brotherleelove provided addtional information on the hotel in his reply.

I agree that Luisah "did a great job... without sounding like she was lecturing." Perhaps some of us could learn from that. ;-)

NeoPatrick Sep 20th, 2007 02:23 PM

Yes. I agree with that 100%. Here's a good example of lecturing without providing information, by the way:

"And sometimes Googling is faster than waiting for a reply (which still isn't forthcoming from tbird03, btw)."

And surely you don't mean my post which was asked as a question is akin to the "lecturing" like you were doing?

LOL

Sorry - only the first time I posted anything. I have been benefiting from other postings and wanted to contribute. Guess I learned my lesson - it wasn't worth the grief.

Feel a bit uneasy about posters saying they had a wonderful time at $1000/night and the service was perfect -at that price is simply should be - bit like saying my Ferrari is a wonderful drive.

Heimdall Oct 11th, 2007 11:58 AM

tbird03, I tried to help by posting my Google to show which island you meant, and then got jumped on by the Fodor's Taliban. Sorry you got that reaction from a well meaning post.
