Mykonos to Athens: plane or ferry?
Debating between flying from Mykonos to Athens or taking a high speed catamaran.
The 7am flight is 47e - arrives at 7:35am. The next flight is at 1:05pm but is 110e and arrives at 1:40pm. The Hellenic Seaways catamaran leaves at 5pm and arrives in Athens at 850pm and is 54e The day of travel is a friday - so I'll be going out for dinner and a little Athens nightlife - which I imagine can start late. But how late? I will have been on Mykonos for 5 days. I have no idea if I'll be ready to get back for some big city urbaness or have another full day in Mykonos. Any insight? I'm guessing I can wait till I get to Athens to see how I feel about Athens. Or maybe even when I get to Mykonos? Or is that pushing my luck? |

Anyone? |
I'm not a big fan of the high speed catamarans because we've had some very bumpy rides. Of course you might luck out, have perfect weather, and a very smooth ride. But it's hard to predict. That's why I'd recommend flying, if possible.
As for Athen's nightlife, I can attest to the fact that most of it doesn't even start until about 10 PM. And it often goes into the very early hours of the morning. I am astonished at how people get to work the next day, but they do! |
thanks Weadles.
any ideas how long it takes to get from Piraeus to Plaka? |
My vote is to STAY IN MYKONOS!!!!!!!
Wish I was there right now on the beautiful beach! TrendGirl |
Piraeus to Plaka (Monastiraki Station) takes about 17 minutes by Suburban Green Line Train.

Taxi ride from Piraeus to Plaka is about 20+ minutes, depending on time of day/traffic.
