Mykonos, Santorini & Crete - In this order???
Hi All - I know many people recommend starting with the furthest island from Athens and working your way back. However, I was considering starting in Mykonos, then to Santorini and then to Crete and flying out of Chania back to Athens. Is there a reason why I should not do this??
My travel times seem to work better this way so that I can spend more time in Santorini...Just curious if there is a reason why people don't recommend going the route I have mentioned above. Thanks!! |
Forgot to mention, this order also helps me to avoid Mykonos during a long holiday weekend in Greece where I suspect it will be more of a madhouse than usual and many of my top hotel choices are booked!

You've got it organized just right, and your idea of going to Mykonos first to avoid the holiday crowd is very smart. I believe it really doesn't make any difference in the order as long as you're not backtracking.

Thanks brotherlee love! I'm sure I'll have many more questions before all is through, but I GREATLY appreciate all of your help and advice...Thanks again!

I think you are just fine. We did Athens - Mykonos - Paros - Naxos - Santorini - Crete - Rhodes and then flew back to Athens from Rhodes. No problems or issues at all. Enjoy!
